In 1270, Saint Louis established the “sixty notaries of the Châtelet.” For nine centuries, the notaries of Paris have remained faithful to the historic center of their city, and the Chamber of Notaries of Paris still sits on this site, which is now known as Place du Châtelet. The firm moved to Rue Le Peletier in 1842, then to Rue La Fayette in 1892, where it remains today.
Pargade Notaires has held the notarial archives of its clients for more than four centuries. The Minutier central holds the records of notarial office CXIII dating back to 1626. The firm’s records up to 31 December 1938 have been transferred to the Archives nationales.
