1. Introduction
We take your privacy seriously, and protecting your personal data is one of our top priorities. This policy explains, clearly and in full, how personal data is processed on the website pargade.notaires.fr, and how cookies and other trackers are used on it.
2. Definitions
- Personal data: any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual.
- Processing: any operation carried out on personal data, such as collecting, recording, retrieving, or altering it.
- Data subject: any individual whose personal data is processed.
- Data controller: the person or entity that determines the purposes and means of processing.
- Data Protection Officer (DPO): the person appointed by the data controller to oversee compliance with data protection law, act as the contact point for data subjects’ rights, and liaise with the CNIL.
- Cookie: a small file (tracker) placed on and read from your device when you visit a website, whatever device you use.
3. Data controller
Pargade Notaires (Office notarial Pargade, Notaires SELARL), 24 rue La Fayette, 75009 Paris, is the data controller for this website under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 (the GDPR). We are committed to taking appropriate steps to protect your personal data.
4. Personal data we collect
- Identification data: name, address, phone number, email address.
- Professional data: business name, SIRET number, tax information (where relevant).
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, time spent on the site.
- Contact data: messages you send through the site’s contact forms.
5. Why we collect your data
We process your personal data to:
- respond to your requests for information or to arrange an appointment;
- manage your notarial matters, administratively and legally;
- run, maintain, and improve the website and its features;
- keep the website secure;
- and meet our legal obligations, including retaining deeds and preventing money laundering.
6. Legal basis for processing
We rely on:
- your consent, for any mailing list and for non-essential cookies, where the site uses them;
- performance of a contract (or steps taken at your request before entering one), to handle your matter and any client area;
- a legal obligation, for retaining deeds and filing tax returns;
- and our legitimate interest, in keeping the website running smoothly, secure, and up to date, and in promoting our services to the public.
7. How long we keep your data
- Client data: for the legally required period (10 years for notarial deeds, 5 years for tax records).
- Contact data: deleted once we have dealt with your enquiry, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
- Connection data (statistics, security): kept for up to 12 months.
- Cookies: kept for up to 13 months.
8. Who receives your data
Your data may be shared with:
- our staff (notaires, clerks, assistants) who provide the services you request;
- service providers who support the website (development, hosting, email, and similar), under GDPR-compliant agreements;
- and authorities entitled to receive it by law, for example under a court order or for tax or anti-money-laundering purposes.
9. Transfers outside the European Union
We do not transfer personal data outside the European Union. The audience-measurement tools used on the site (see section 12) are hosted in France.
10. Keeping your data secure
We keep your personal data confidential and secure, and we require our service providers to apply appropriate technical and organisational safeguards against unauthorised access, loss, accidental destruction, or unlawful alteration.
11. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you may:
- access a copy of your data;
- correct inaccurate data;
- request deletion of your data, subject to our legal retention obligations;
- restrict how we use it;
- receive it in a structured, portable format;
- and object to processing on grounds relating to your particular situation.
Under French law, you may also give instructions on how your personal data should be stored, deleted, or shared after your death.
To exercise these rights, contact the data controller or our Data Protection Officer, ADNOV, at dpo.not@adnov.fr. If you believe your rights have not been respected after contacting us, you may lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority in France, the CNIL.
12. Cookies and trackers
12.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These temporary cookies are required for the site to work and for you to browse it, for example, the PHP session cookie that gives access to private pages. They do not require your consent.
12.2 Audience measurement exempt from consent
The site uses Matomo for audience measurement, configured to the standard its provider recommends and the CNIL has approved: the data collected is anonymised, no cookie is placed on your device, and the data is hosted in France. Under CNIL guidance, this processing is exempt from consent.
The site also uses the internal WP Statistics plugin, which produces visitor statistics for the office’s internal use only. This data stays on the site’s own server and is never shared with a third party.
12.3 Cookies and trackers used on the site
| Name / tool | Provider | Purpose | Consent required | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PHP session cookie | Pargade Notaires | Website functionality (e.g. access to the private area) | No (necessary) | Session |
| Matomo | Matomo, anonymised configuration hosted in France | Audience measurement | No (CNIL-exempt, no cookie placed) | Not applicable |
| WP Statistics | Pargade Notaires (internal, self-hosted tool) | Internal audience measurement | No (internal tool, no cookie placed) | Not applicable |
As of this update, the site does not use Google Maps, Microsoft Clarity, or Tarteaucitron. These tools, referred to in an earlier version of this page, are no longer in use. Where the site links to Google Maps — for example, to show our office location — this is simply an external hyperlink: it places no cookie and shares no data from our site.
Because the site currently uses no cookie or tracker requiring your prior consent, no cookie banner is shown. If we introduce a tracker that does require consent — non-anonymised audience measurement, social sharing, or targeted advertising, for example — we will add a cookie management tool and update this policy accordingly.
12.4 Managing cookies
You can manage cookies, disable, block, or delete them, at any time in your browser settings, usually under “Options” or “Preferences.” Your browser’s help section will generally explain how.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, in particular to reflect changes to the tools and services we use. We encourage you to check back periodically. We will notify you of any significant change by email or by a notice on the site.
